The Equal Representation in Arbitration (ERA) Pledge is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of efforts to advance gender diversity in international arbitration. Since its launch in 2016, the Pledge has grown into a global initiative with more than 6,000 signatories across 143 countries and has played a significant role in fostering greater transparency and progress in arbitral appointments.
As the Pledge enters its second decade, a new global leadership team has been appointed. Alexandra van der Meulen (Freshfields) and Antonia Birt (Reed Smith) have been named Co-Chairs of the Global Steering Committee, with Briana Young (Three Crowns) and Yosr Bouassida (Freshfields) appointed as Co-Secretaries. They succeed the outgoing leadership team led by Sylvia Noury KC, founder of the ERA Pledge, who has overseen its developmentsince its inception.
The new leadership team will build on the Pledge's achievements while continuing to promote more inclusive appointment practices and greater diversity across the arbitration community.
